Selection of Applicants

Participants of The Kalish are selected for their diverse levels of experience in picture editing, design, management and new media editing and presentation. 

Note: The Kalish focuses on storytelling through visual judgment, not use of technology. However, you should have basic knowledge of Final Cut (Express or Pro) and InDesign. See a list of suggested tutorials here.

Workshop Cost

The registration fee is $695. Applications require a deposit of $100. Balance is due on April 30, 2012. (No refunds can be made after April 30.)

The National Press Photographers Foundation and Kalish Workshop do not store any personal credit card information.

NPPA scholarships available

The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) is offering two full-tuition scholarships to The Kalish 2012, based on need. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must reside in the United States and make your living primarily through still photography. To apply, please send an email of 300 words or less explaining why you would like to attend Kalish and describing your financial need to suemorrow@me.com with "Kalish scholarship application" in the subject line. APPM scholarships available

The Associated Press Photo Managers will award two full tuition scholarships ($695 each). Preference will be given to APPM members. Apply to John Rumbach, president of APPM, at jrumbach@dcherald.com.

 

NPPF stipends available

The Kalish offers ten $150 stipends off registration. Anyone who states they need financial assistance on the application form will be considered.
