Statement by Applicant

Kalish participants are selected for a class “mix.” Experience has shown that we’ve had an excellent distribution of participants in sex, race, ethnic origin and age. The Kalish also attracts people with different levels of experience in picture editing, design, newsroom management and new media editing and presentation. Each applicant must include a letter explaining their interest in The Kalish, where they are in their career, and what they hope to gain from the workshop.

Selection of Applicants

Each applicant must submit a brief statement of background and reason for applying. Do not, for instance, come only to learn a technology. We use only enough technology to make visual judgments quickly and without mechanical inhibitions.

Timing of Application

Those interested have until May 15, 2010 to apply. Early applications will help indicate interest, We have room for only 30 so don't delay in applying. Selection of applicants will be made, and those accepted (or deferred) will be so advised at the time of their application.

Workshop Cost

The registration fee is $500. Applications require a deposit of $100. Balance is due on May 31, 2010. (No refunds can be made after May 31.)
