Kevin Martin is the Deputy Director of Photography at the Boston Globe.
With nearly 20 years experience as a newspaper photo editor, Martin previously worked for the Minnesota Star Tribune, San Antonio Express-News, Knoxville News Sentinel, The Advocate in Louisiana and The State in Columbia, South Carolina. Martin also worked as a photo editor for the Associated Press in New York.
Martin was part of the Star Tribune newsroom staff which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for breaking news reporting after the murder of George Floyd. He twice served as a juror for the Pulitzer Prize photography categories. In 2022, Martin was named Visual Editor of the Year by Pictures of the Year International. Martin was part of the Boston Globe photo editing team that twice won the Editing Team of the Year in the NPPA Best of Photojournalism competition.
Martin is a former director of The Kalish workshop. He also likes to play the banjo.
