Clare Vander Meersch is a seasoned professional in editorial photography, boasting over 25 years of experience. She is a Senior Photo Editor at The Globe and Mail newspaper and the Director of Photography at ROB magazine. Her portfolio includes handling the weekend Big Bet features for A1/B1, special projects, climate change, and Report on Business magazine. Clare is renowned for producing captivating and impactful visual stories that engage and inform readers, and she has a keen eye for spotting and developing new talent. Her role is complex, involving multiple touch points across various divisions of a legacy media company.

Clare's jury experience includes prestigious organizations such as World Press Photo and Diversify Photo. She has received numerous awards, including the Pulitzer’s Ocean Reporting Network, SPDs, Press Club of America, NNAs, NMAs, DPAs, Canadian Journalism Foundation, and Visa d’Or (Perpignan).

Additionally, Clare is a founding board member of the Magenta Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the visual arts in Canada through book publishing and exhibitions. The foundation provides a valuable platform to amplify the voices of photographers, from high school educational programs to mid-career retrospectives and archival work. Magenta Foundation is a pioneering organization that connects local artists with global audiences.
