Jo E. Norris

My name is Jo E. (pronounced “jo-eee”) and I am a trans neurodivergent visual artist calling San Antonio "home" where I love to ask questions and learn more about the people who make San Antonio as a staff photographer with the San Antonio Express-News. Coming of age in rural Michigan, my love of storytelling images was sparked by hours of studying family photos and National Geographic magazines. I am drawn to stories centering on identity and belonging. I am a graduate of Central Michigan University, studying global and cultural studies, and Delta College where I studied journalism. My internship adventures include The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, The San Antonio Express-News, The Tennessean, and MLive.com/The Saginaw News. When not photographing I can be found, making tangible art, biking, and getting distracted by my cats.
