Brian Storm

Brian Storm is the founder of MediaStorm, a media company focused on documentary film and interactive design known for publishing diverse narratives, advancing the craft of visual storytelling through training, developing innovative publishing tools, and collaborating with leading organizationsworldwide.
MediaStorm’s work has earned some of the industry’s highest honors, including 17 Emmy Award nominations (4 wins), 30 Webby nominations (6 wins), three Online Journalism Awards, three World Press Photo Awards, two Alfred I. duPont–Columbia Awards, two Overseas Press Club Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and more than 50 honors from Pictures of the Year and Best of Photojournalism.
Before founding MediaStorm in 2005, Storm served as Vice President of News, Multimedia & Assignment Services at Corbis, the digital media agency founded by Bill Gates. There, he led the company’s global strategy for its news, sports, entertainment, and historical archives, and directed multimedia projects with some of the world’s foremost photojournalists.
From 1995 to 2002, Storm was the first Director of Multimedia at MSNBC.com, a joint venture between Microsoft and NBC News. He oversaw the site’s audio, video, and photography initiatives, and in 1998, launched The Week in Pictures, a pioneering visual journalism feature that became one of MSNBC’s most popular franchises.
Storm earned his master’s degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where he also directed the New Media Lab and taught Electronic Photojournalism. His first iteration of MediaStorm began in 1994 as an interactive CD-ROM production company.
He currently serves on the advisory boards of Reporters Without Borders, the Alexia Foundation for World Peace, the Stan Kalish Picture Editing Workshop, and Pictures of the Year.
A frequent speaker on the future of storytelling, Storm also leads product vision for the MediaStorm Platform, designed to empower the next generation of visual storytellers.
Born in Minnesota, Storm is a long-suffering Vikings fan. He lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Northern California.
