David Lucas

David Lucas is an award-winning photojournalist and photo editor with nearly three decades of experience across some of the world's most recognized news organizations. Since beginning his career in 1997, his work has taken him from the sidelines of professional sports to the beaches of Banda Aceh, Indonesia in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami. His images have appeared in Time, Life Year in Pictures, the New York Times, USA Today, the Globe and Mail and Maclean's, among others.
A graduate of the photojournalism program at Loyalist College, David has held editorial roles at the Canadian Press, the Toronto Sun, Getty Images, the Globe and Mail and Reuters, where he has been a Photo Editor since 2014. In that role, he oversees visual presentation for Reuters.com and creates picture packages for major online clients, including Apple and MSN.
Beyond his editorial work, David has been an active contributor to the photojournalism community, serving as Vice President of the News Photographers Association of Canada and sitting on the advisory board for the photojournalism program at Loyalist College for over 16 years.
