Authentication of digital visual content in the age of misinformation
As leaders, makers and managers, how can we help protect and preserve the integrity of visual journalism in a climate of misinformation? A panel of award-winning journalists will discuss the development and use of the latest advances in cryptography and Web3 technologies to authenticate digital visual content.
Pablo Albarenga is a visual storyteller based in Brazil focusing on stories of social and environmental justice, environment, science and climate change. Ann Grimes is the Starling Lab Journalism Fellowship Director, a veteran journalist and former Director of Stanford's Graduate Program in Journalism. Ron Haviv is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, award-winning photojournalist, and co-founder of the photo agency VII, dedicated to documenting conflict and raising human rights issues around the globe. Adam Rose is COO at Starling Labs for Data Integrity, an academic research center cofounded by Stanford and USC to explore the intersection of technologies (specifically Web3) and human rights. Ray Saint Germain is a SF Bay Area photojournalist and the current photo editor at the Bay City News, where he is building the organization's photo department and oversees acquisition, quality control, verification, staff mentoring and multi-media projects.
