Independent Editorial and Documentary Photographer
Alyssa Pointer is a freelance editorial and commercial photographer based in Atlanta. She is a Georgia native who spent four years working as a staff visual journalist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Prior to working in Atlanta, she spent a year as a resident staff visual journalist for The Chicago Tribune. Alyssa is a graduate of Western Kentucky University's award winning photojournalism program. No matter her surroundings, Alyssa strives to create impactful images of the people and places within a community. Her work has been recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards, National Press Photographers Association Best of Photojournalism, Time Magazine's 100 Photos of the Year, Georgia Associated Press Media Editors Contest and the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar. When she is not making visuals, Alyssa enjoys daydreaming on a blanket at the park, sourcing vintage and antique collectibles for her small reselling business and trying new cuisines with her husband.
